Cliodhna qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from UCD in 1995. She completed an internship in UCD before moving to mixed practice in Bakewell ,Derbyshire, UK. (The original practice of the real “Siegfried Farnon” from James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small). Cliodhna moved to New Zealand in 1998 where she worked in a large animal and equine practice before returning to Ireland to work in a predominantly dairy practice in Listowel, Co. Kerry.

Cliodhna has been working in O’Dowd Veterinary since 2000 where she has played an integral role in making O’Dowd Veterinary one of the best mixed practices in the North East. She enjoys helping to lead a brilliant team of vets, nurses and support staff and she became a clinical director for IVC in 2022 . Cliodhna has particular interest in canine and feline dentistry, small animal soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics.

Outside of practice, Cliodhna is a busy mother to her beloved son Ryan and has 4 ninja cats Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatella. Cliodhna loves swimming especially in the open water and is a certified Bikram Yoga instructor since 2011. She plans to swim the North Channel in a relay team in June 2024.
