Ark Vets in Galway are seeking a Head Veterinary Nurse for a permanent, full-time position in their Knocknacarra practice.
Our practice is a two branch, small animal group located in the beautiful coastal city of Galway. We are a referral centre for surgery and medicine. We have a wide array of top of the range equipment and services in our practice to continue our well-established standard of care for our patients and clients. These include:

· Air driven dentistry, & Dental x-ray

We are proud of our large, highly skilled veterinary team. We have 9 Veterinary Surgeons, 11 Veterinary Nurses, 3 Receptionists and a Practice Manager. Our vets have a range of experience levels, from new graduates to certificate holders (surgery, medicine, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care). We also have visiting ophthalmologist and physiotherapist who provide a comprehensive service for our patients, colleagues and clients. The Role
This is a Full-time, permanent position of 36 to 40 hours per week, typically over 4-5 days per week.
· Shift patterns include 8-5, 9-6, 9:30 - 6:30.
· Saturdays 1:4 either 9-1 or 9-5.
· No Sundays/Bank Holidays or Out-of-Hours.
The main duties and responsibilities for this position would include ensuring a working nurse roster, clinical nursing, client effacing roles such as nurse clinics and reception management, overseeing clinical standards, organizing nurse meetings and feeding back to the team.
Salary for this role is up €45,000 + benefits commensurate with experience.
Applicant Requirements
All applicants must be a qualified experienced Veterinary Nurse, registered or eligible to register with the VCI, and eligible to work in Ireland.
Successful candidates will demonstrate mastery of routine nursing skills and ideally experience of managing a similarly sized team.
Previous experience working in small animal referrals and a postgraduate qualification in relevant disciplines would be an advantage, but not essential
