Find fulfilment. We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our professional team in Drogheda, Co Louth.  

 

The Role

  • Full-time, permanent position for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon 

  • 37.5 hours per week over 5 days (1 hour lunch break per day) 

  • Shared rota of 1 in 4 weekends / OOH with no overnight work 

  • Salary up to €65,000 commensurate with experience level 

  • Start date of January 2025 

  • We also have a 3 bedroom house available to rent close to the practice or contacts for those requiring a room only rent in Drogheda for those who would like assistance if needed regarding accommodation

 

Your responsibilities in this role will include clinical consultations, and surgical procedures as well as providing a high standard of care to both our patients and our clients. You will be working alongside a vibrant, enthusiastic, professional team with clinical excellence at its core. 

 

This role has the possibility to progress into a Clinical Lead role in the future for the right candidate.

All eligible applicants must be registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland.  

Experience is essential for this role. All applicants must be competent at:  

  • Clinical consultations 

  • General soft tissue surgery including routine procedures (e.g. dog spays, tumour removals etc) 

  • Routine diagnostics and Work ups E.g. Cardiology and Skin work ups, Ear Flush exams etc 

  • Clinical procedures E.g. blood transfusions, urinary catheterization etc

  • Able to communicate and integrate well into a professional, friendly team is a must 

  • Be a respectful, professional and courteous individual 

  • Committed to high standards of patient care and good client care is essential

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly, progressive and competent team based in Drogheda, Co Louth. We are a 100% Small Animal Hospital, passionate about providing a quality service to both our clients and patients. Our team's well-being is always a priority, and we have several wellness advocates who focus strongly on this area of our daily work. We have regular clinical case discussions amongst our professionals and department organizational meetings and debriefs to ensure we foster a well-rounded team and work environment. Our team is made up of 6 Veterinarians, 9 Veterinary Nurses, 3 reception staff, an accounts administrator, a practice manager, and 2 animal care assistants. Our Vets hold certificates in both SA Medicine and Surgery giving the successful applicant the unique opportunity to work with Vets with an interest in advanced surgery, including orthopaedics, ultrasonography and echocardiography. Many of our nursing team hold certificates in Feline Medicine, Anaesthesia, and Emergency & Critical Care.

Our fully renovated, high-spec hospital is situated in Drogheda town, right next to the busy Bus Éireann depot and nearby train station – both give quick and easy access to Belfast, Dublin and Wexford. We have great facilities including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, ultrasound, in-house blood analyzers, separate dog /cat waiting areas and consultation rooms plus a private family room. We are an ISFM Gold Certified cat friendly clinic. We offer referral services in both orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, as well of ultrasonography.
