The Role 

• Position: Full-time, Maternity Leave Cover (Specific Purpose Contract) 

• Contract Duration: Approximately 12 months 

• Working Hours: 38.5 hours per week (4 days) 

• Weekend Requirement: 1 in 2 weekends 

• Out of Hours (OOH) & On-Call Duties: None 

• Salary: Up to €55,000 (commensurate with experience) 

• Start Date: May 2025 

Key Responsibilities: 

• General consultations 

• General surgery (including neutering, dentals, emergency surgeries) 

We are seeking a confident, experienced veterinarian who can efficiently manage a busy, full schedule in a small animal practice.

Selecting the best talent 

• The ideal candidate must be a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon. 

• Experience in consultations, surgery, and case management is a must. 

• While new graduates are welcome to apply, prior experience in first opinion practice is preferred. 

• This role is not suitable for those needing extensive support or training in routine surgeries (such as dog and cat spays, lump removals, stitch-ups, etc.). 

• A team player is essential—someone who is proactive, enjoys engaging with both clients and colleagues, and is willing to share the workload.

Our Foxrock practice is one of the oldest companian animal practices in the country, located right in the heart of Deansgrange for more than 40 years. We have a good client base that mirrors our strong focus on patient welfare and high clinical standards. 

 

Our dynamic team in Foxrock consists of 6 Veterinary Surgeons, 3 Veterinary Nurses, and 5 support team members. We have one certificate holder in Foxrock for Internal Medicine, and another currently pusruing a certificate in Diagnostic Imaging.
