Veterinary Surgeon - Ark Vets

The Role 

• Position: Full-time, Maternity Leave Cover (Specific Purpose Contract) 

• Contract Duration: Approx. 12 months 

• Working Hours: 40 hours per week (4-5 days) 

• On-Call Rota: Currently consisting of 1-in-9 weeknights and 1-in-9 weekends 

• Salary: €40,000-€52,500 (based on experience) 

• Start Date: March 2025 

 

You would be responsible for general first opinion consultations, routine surgical procedures (spays, castrations, lump removals etc), and management of daily patient caseloads. The successful candidate will participate in the on-call rota, currently consisting of 1-in-9 weeknights and 1-in-9 weekends.

• The candidate must be a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon. 

• Proficiency in consultations, surgery, and case management is essential. 

• New graduates are encouraged to apply, though prior experience in first opinion practice is preferred. 

• Experience or an interest in ultrasound, radiography, and dental care would be highly advantageous.

Knocknacarra serves as the referral centre for our group, handling both first opinion and referral cases. Our facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies, including a CT scanner, ultrasound, digital X-ray, a fully equipped IDEXX laboratory, endoscopy, and orthopaedic referral services. Additionally, we have recently opened a new extension featuring state-of-the-art surgical suites. Our sister branch on St. Mary’s Road is equipped with a dedicated dental suite and a dental X-ray setup. 

 

Our dedicated team consists of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Veterinary Nurses, a Practice Manager, and 5 support staff, all committed to providing the highest standard of care.
