The Pet Hospital in Waterford has an exciting opening for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team.
This is a full-time, permanent position in a busy small animal veterinary hospital in Waterford city. The successful applicant will complement the veterinary team in our clinical and surgical medicine, bringing new knowledge and methods to the table as well as learning from the many years of experience that we have at the Pet Hospital. Your main duties will include surgical, medical and clinical rotations, radiology, ultrasound and laboratory medicine. The working week is 40hours and will cover shifts from 9am-5pm Monday to Friday with every 3rd Saturday morning 9am-1pm. The Out of Hours rota is 1 night per week and one weekend in 8.
Salary for this role is up to €80,000 depending on experience.
The Pet Hospital is a dedicated small animal Veterinary Hospital located in the heart of Waterford City overlooking the Peoples Park and within half an hour’s drive of some of the most beautiful beaches and mountain landscapes in Ireland. The Hospital is well equipped with state-of-the-art digital x-ray, gas anaesthesia, capnography, full in-house laboratory and a comprehensive range of medications. We have two fully equipped consultation rooms with a dispensary conveniently placed between them. A typical day is divided between surgery and clinic with a break from 1 to 2 for lunch. Supported by our three excellent nurses, our vets work between the clinic and surgeries in a calm and supportive atmosphere. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team of veterinary surgeons and nurses are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Founded in 1998, The Pet Hospital is a leading small animal veterinary hospital based in Waterford, providing the highest quality of animal care to pets across the south east for over 23 years .
About the Team and Culture
We have a team of 3 full time vets, 1 part time vet, 3 nurses and are hoping to expand this team to cope with the ever-increasing demand for veterinary services in Waterford city. Supporting this medical team, we have 2 receptionists that keep the clinic running smoothly.
This position is for an experienced veterinary surgeon registered with the veterinary council of Ireland and eligible to work in Ireland. The successful candidate must be proficient in both routine surgery and clinical medicine. We are looking for someone who is a team player with a good sense of humour and a passion for veterinary medicine. You can expect a relaxed and supportive team at the Pet Hospital with an appreciation of balance between work and play.
