Veterinary Surgeon - City Vets

City Vets in Waterford is seeking a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to cover maternity leave in their companion animal hospital from June until September 2024.

City Vets is a well-established and widely recognised companion animal hospital located in Waterford. Our team comprises of five Veterinary Surgeons, four Veterinary Nurses and an excellent team of support staff.  All our team have a high level of experience and expertise in their respective roles. As a busy, first opinion practice we see a wide variety of interesting medical and surgical cases every day. Among our services are tonometry, blood pressure measurement and digital radiography.

The Role

This is a full-time position of 40hours/5 days per week for a Veterinary Surgeon to cover maternity leave from June to September 2024.

Typical shifts are 9:30am to 6pm, with occasional weekend and OOH work.

The main purpose of the role is to make animal welfare your first consideration in seeking to provide the most appropriate attention for the animals committed to your care. This should be carried out using knowledge of animal physiology, nutrition and medicine with your practical skills to diagnose illness, prescribe medicines, and perform imaging tests, laboratory tests and surgery.  To provide this care in keeping with practice and group policies.

Salary for this position is up to €6,250 per month commensurate with experience.

Applicant Requirements

All applicants must be registered with the VCI and eligible to work in Ireland. We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with previous experience in SA practice and who is competent in all routine consultations, medical work ups and routine surgery. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with a commitment to high standards and good client care is essential, as well as the ability to work as part of a team. You must be able to work sole-charge so this position would not be suitable for new graduates or inexperienced veterinarians.
