Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a full-time basis to cover 12 months maternity leave in their referral hospital at Northpoint, starting in June 2024.
We are a 100% Small Animal veterinary group based around Cork city. Our very busy referral hospital is based in Northpoint on the Northside of Cork city. We also have clinics located in Blackpool, Cobh, Passage West and on Kinsale Road.
Our industry leading referral services include CT Scanning, Radiography, Ultrasound, Laparoscopy, Endoscopy, Inhouse Laboratory, Orthopaedic Surgery (including spinal surgery), Hospitalisation facilities, Canine Hydrotherapy and Rehabilitation, and a 24-hour Emergency Service. We have over 40+ staff members and are continually looking to expand; the majority or our Vets and Nurses holding their own certificates or specialising in their own area of interest.
Since opening in 2003 we have improved the range and quality of services available to our clients and we are continually looking to expand. At present, we have over 40+ staff members in our group including 16 Veterinary Surgeons, 18 Veterinary Nurses and 8 Support staff. Many of our Vets and Nurses hold their own certificates or specialise in their own area of interest and we encourage further professional development with our fully funded certificates.

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon in a busy, first opinion hospital.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours over 4 days per week, based in our referral hospital at Northpoint. Typical shifts are 8am to 7pm. There is a shared weekend rota of 1 in 6 weekends.
The salary for this position is up to €60,000 commensurate with experience.
Applicant Requirements
All applicants must have a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent qualification and be eligible to register with the Veterinary Council of Ireland. You must be eligible to work in Ireland. Experience in first opinion practice is required with competency in all routine surgeries and consultations. Additional experience in ECC is preferred. A dedication to gold-standard veterinary practice is required.
